Update: Doctor's response to my decision

I want to start by saying that every woman is different and every pregnancy is different. Work with your doctor to make the best decisions for you and your baby. What is good for one may not be good for another.

My doctor's response to my decision was this:

She said, "I had to laugh the other day when Jane (the receptionist) said, 'Sunny doesn't want to take the NSTs or AFI tests.' I was like, 'Ok, just document it.' Then Jill was like, 'Really, that's it?'

Then my doctor looks at me and says, "I don't know if I told you, but I'm 8 weeks pregnant and over 35 and I'm not doing them either. You know your baby is active, you're taking great care of yourself, and your belly is growing like it should. You're fine."

The fact that she is over my care and says I am totally fine not to take them and the fact that she, too, is declining them....makes me feel 100% better about my decision.

You know, I felt great about my decision, but with any big decision, you find yourself wondering if you really made the right one. I know I did and I feel like I can now enjoy the rest of my pregnancy...even the swollen feet and hands. Lol

I'm telling you, if this baby comes out at 5 pounds, I'm going to be pissed! Haha! Seriously, though, I'm up 23 pounds total. All belly, with a bit in my thighs and under my arms....which I think is boob overflow. Honestly, I think a lot is water weight too. I swear, in the last week, I've gotten really swollen! I'm lucky though, a lot of women have this much earlier in their pregnancies. Thankfully I'll only have to deal with it for a few weeks.

That said, yesterday I made a guess...I think she'll be my biggest baby at 8.2. Not sure on the length...I'm thinking 20".

I really can't wait to meet her. I've made several burp cloths and wipes for her, and I have recipes for wipe solution. The nursery is all set up except for a bookshelf I am putting together today. I can't wait to get her little books and toys on there.

I hung the lanterns from the wedding in the reading corner of her room too. I love that they are being used in this way. Reduce, reuse, recycle!! Plus, they serve as a cheerful reminder of a beautiful day. :-)

My goals today:
1.) Clean house, as best I can...it is all a mess because K primed the walls of three rooms on Monday and we didn't want to out things back and have to move them to paint. (See picture)
2.) Put bookshelf together for baby's room.
3.) Buy paint at Home Depot.
4.) Paint library (I hope to get to this...I may put it off until tomorrow. We'll see) It will he fun to paint and listen to music though! I love that. :-)

I don't want to overdo anything though...I was basically contraction free yesterday. Is like another good day like that. If I don't paint, that's ok. I can quilt. I have new fabric I'm dying to use!

Anyway, cheers to a great Wednesday.
