Nurse called about my declining tests

She left a voicemail...this is not the doc who ordered the tests.

She said, "I don't think the tests are just for your age. We give these tests to teenagers and others. I don't think it is just because of your age."

Then she went on to tell me what they're for. I already know this...to test fluid levels, because you can have too much or too little...or just enough, of course, but she didn't say this. She said the NST is just to make sure the baby isn't stressed.

Then she said, "They're just something we do. I don't think it is for your age. She also said Julie might want to call me to discuss further.

When Julie...the doc, ordered them, she said, "We do these for everyone considered high risk." I asked why I'm considered high risk. She replied, "Because of your AMA."

The thing is, I'm not insulted about the age thing. That would be silly and selfish and I'd never risk my baby's well-being because I'm too vain to admit I'm getting older. No way. My problem with it is I've not gotten a good reason for the tests, which stress me out just thinking about them.

With my boys I was actually high risk...very underweight, then with my second, I was under weight and pregnant after having a baby 4 months before. THAT would be a valid reason for such tests, but they were never offered or mentioned.

I don't want to do a test that makes me nervous simply because "it's just something we do." That's not a valid reason. Maybe I'm wrong...but give me a good reason  and I'll do them. Otherwise, I don't want to hear about it anymore.

Maybe if she insists, I'll ask her for a compromise and I'll start all of it at 36 weeks.
