This is an update on a previous post about mixing CIO with no-cry methods.
I chucked CIO completely. It doesn't fit me as a mother. I find it to be cruel and unnecessary, even in the small way that I used it. I only let her cry for about 30 seconds before scooping her up again.
My baby's lack of sleep then, was due to a growth spurt, I am sure, as it reconciled itself within a week, without me doing anything special.
I still rock my girl to sleep and it happens 9 times out if 10 with no fussing at all. As a matter of fact, she generally coos until she falls asleep.
She has been sleeping in her crib for the last week, without a single problem. She doesn't even cry when she wakes. She makes her grunting noises, I get her, bring her to our bed to nurse, and then I put her back in her crib. She seems to like being able to stretch out, which was harder for her in our bed and the bassinet. In our bed she kicked a lot and woke up a lot. In the bassinet, her hands hit the sides and she had only about 3 inches of head room left.
It's so cute when I put her down in the crib. She always does a big stretch, sighs, then continues sleeping. :-)
I miss cuddling with her whole co-sleeping, but it isn't about me. It's about how my baby sleeps best.
Funny thing is, in a way we are still co-sleeping, because her room is attached to ours and only separated with a door...I can still hear her breathing from my bed, so I'm sure she can too.
Fun pics of my happy gal.
