My sister told me that she was able to shop for a family of 5 at the grocery store each week for only 120.00 using coupons.
This got me thinking...hey, I can contribute to the family by helping K save money! So, I am trying my hand at it. I'm NOT going to go crazy like the extreme couponing people on television, but I am going to check circulars each week and grab some coupons online to help us save money.
I hope we see a difference that actually matters.
I've gone to Coupon Mom, because they claim to have figured out all of it for you. I had the deals emailed to me so I know what's happening at my local grocery store. WE shop at Kroger and Kroger has their own website (of course) with coupons you can download directly to your Kroger loyalty card! To me, this is so much more convenient than having to take all the coupons there and having them individually scanned.
In other "news..."
I started my day with some yoga in the nursery while Katydid played on her activity mat. It felt great. I forgot how good it felt to stretch the body in poses like upward dog. My back has been hurting from holding the baby so much (I can't help it, I love holding her!) so this pose REALLY helps with that. Oh gosh, it feels so good...I'm only doing short bits of workouts, because I'm so out of shape and I want to do it right. I don't want it to be another form of exercise so much as a mode of connecting with myself.
I'm dedicating my yoga to my child-self. So, patience is for sure required. She deserves love, patience and acceptance.
Katydid and I went for a walk today that I found invigorating, but that she found infuriating. lol She was hungry about halfway home. When she's hungry, there is a nice period of "hey, mom, I'm hungry," that changes VERY QUICKLY to "Yo, woman! I'm hungry. Feed me NOW!"
Still, the walk was wonderful and I feel better having done it.
I'm making myself some lunch/dinner (actual dinner isn't until 8:30, when K gets home). I'm having a boiled sweet potato, some stuffing, and yellow corn. Yum. I don't know, they just sounded great. I've just realized my plate will basically be yellow. *grumble* I like a colorful plate. I didn't think this through very well. Oh well.
Right now I'm eating Honey Nut Cheerios with Almond milk and honey. I have to really cut back my dairy intake, because Kathryn ends up very gassy, has green poop, and a red bottom. :( I cut it out for a while to see and she was fine. I added it back a few days ago and it was pretty bad. It's getting better, but it takes a while for dairy to exit the system and I've not completely cut it out. I still eat cheese, but not much. The almond milk is my alternative to cow's milk...and it has 50% more calcium, so that's great.
Kathryn is happily hanging out in her swing right now. Thank goodness. The last few days (probably because of the dairy), she has ben rather fussy and demanding my attention quite a bit. It's nice to get a little break.
Oh, I was able to cut some pieces for a new quilt I'm making. This one will be the first thing added to the inventory for my shop. :) It feels GREAT to be taking the first step. It'll take me quite a long time to finish it with the little one, but that's okay.
I'm considering getting up earlier each day to get some things done that I want to do while Kathryn is asleep, but I'm not sure I should do that yet. At this stage, maybe sleeping is more important. Maybe I should hold off a few more months before I start doing that.
Here's a GREAT read for anyone who is interested....it's about photoshopping in ads. How the "ideal" beauty in America is actually not real. Most of us know this, but when we look in the mirror at ourselves, it's hard not to compare ourselves to the images we are bombarded with on a daily basis...real or not.
