I'm very much into healthy eating MOST of the time. However, I have a weakness for donuts and cheeseburgers. I hate McDonalds, but I sometimes HAVE to heave a #4 combo with a Sprite. I KNOW it is bad. I know it is terrible for my body, especially now that I'm breastfeeding, yet I still cave.
There is a challenge on Facebook right now from some organic ratio.g page that I subscribe to. It's a 7-day challenge to eat "real" food...nothing processed at all, not even my beloved Honey Nut Cheerios. To me, cutting out cereal is extreme. Is never do that on a regular basis, but I'm intrigued by this challenge. The only thing is, I'm also planning when would be the most convenient way to implement it into my life. With the holiday fast approaching, I don't want to begin this week. I want to eat in a healthy way, but I don't want the stress of worrying about what I'm eating.
My sister-in/law wants to do the challenge with me and this is cool. I don't want it to affect my outcome too much though. I can be competitive and that's not the point here. It's not about weight. I don't need help to lose weight, nor do I need to lose weight. Breastfeeding is taking care of that. I'm trying to maintain balance with that so my milk supply remain ample for my baby. This week I've noticed nursing has really kicked in the weight loss. It's crazy and I have to be careful.
For me, this challenge is about simply eating good food. I'm trying new recipes and I want to continue to do that using good ingredients. I LOVE, for example, grating/shredding my own cheese rather than buying it preshredded. It's so much more satisfying to eat that way...and cheaper too!
I also love noshing on fruit, veggies, and nuts. Usually all at the same time. It's better for me and Kathryn.
I don't think this challenge will be terribly difficult for me. The hard part will be on days when I'm tired and don't feel like cooking. That's when we heat a frozen pizza or grab fast food. Thankfully we have already begun to cut back on that, so maybe this won't be so hard. It's only a 7-day challenge. Surely I can pull this off! Lol.
Never know, it might give me a jump start for a healthier diet.
Want to try the challenge? No processed foods at all for 7 days. :-)
All this said, we are about to nosh on some Chinese take-out.
Healthy? Hell no, but it's been about 8 months since we last had Chinese food...maybe even a year. I'm going to enjoy it. :-)
Pics from the weekend...
