When the mundane becomes amazing

Having a baby is a funny thing. Suddenly the mundane becomes absolutely amazing.

She smiled at me!
Her sleeping expressions are so adorable!
She slept for 4 hours straight!
She coos and grunts!
Haha! Look at that "I'm pooping" face!

Everything a baby does is simply the most amazing, most adorable thing EVER!

Well, mine for today is, "She slept in her bassinet all night!" Yay! She woke up one extra time, but she stayed there all night. I started her there and after each feeding I put her back in there. She didn't seem to mind at all.

I know the experts say they need to sleep on their backs, but when she sleeps with me, she naturally turns to her side with her little, chubby arms up. In the beginning, I'd turn her to her back because I was afraid of SIDS, but if I did this, she'd wake up, fuss, and go back to her side-lying position. So I've given up on that. She likes to lay that way. When I put her in her bassinet, I used to put her in on her back, but she'd wake up immediately. Last night I put her on her side and she stayed asleep until she was hungry.

She's in her bassinet right now, watching her bears spin around.


On a side note:

I've been reading others' experiences about perineal tears, stitches, stitches opening, etc and I came across this story. So sad. I feel bad for this woman. Compared to her situation, mine is NOTHING! I think I'll end up just having to wait out the natural healing process. From what I've read, a lot of women experience this and most end up just having to wait for nature to take her course. I KNOW I don't have infection. I'm not in THAT much pain and actually today I have more itching than pain (a good sign, I think!). I can manage it.

K and I are having a movie day today. It's cold & gloomy outside, so chilling at home with my loves is wonderful. I'm enjoying it quite a lot. Kathryn is asleep on my chest as I type. I love holding her like this. She's so incredibly beautiful. I love this little girl.

I cannot believe this month is almost over. Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before I know it! I want to get K a Descendents sweatshirt. I remember him mentioning that he wanted one, several months ago. I think I found the one I want to get him....He's here....gotta go so he doesn't see that! lol
