Eating for Two

It's no secret that I've struggled with an eating disorder in my past and that I've recently been the custom of disordered thinking pertaining to food. It's also no secreti that I have NOT acted on such thoughts. I've pushed them aside as much for myself as for my sweet baby.

That said, I do still pay attention to what I eat. The difference is I pay attention to trying to make the most colorful and healthy plate possible.

I was recently asked about healthy eating. A dear person in my .life is planning to start a diet (yet again) and wanted ideas.

I don't diet. I don't believe in them. They are temporary fixes. Most people gain back the weight plus some. So....there's that.

What I do instead is this:

Egg whites instead of whole eggs.

Fill my plates halfway with fruits and veggies and the rest with lean meats and whole grains.

I am careful about my dairy intake (now more for baby than me), because it is easy for me to overdo cheese. I love it.

I eat junk food, but in moderation. I don't deprive myself.

I also hardly ever drink sodas. They are so bad for you.

I drink lots of water. It helps my skin, my mood, my digestive system, and my milk production.

Here's a pic of my lunch plate.

Yesterday's dinner was just as good. Kevin made it!! We had broiled steak, baked potatoes, roasted asparagus with garlic, sauteed mushrooms and onion. Soooooo yummy. :-)
