Baby at 3.5 Months

Well, Kathryn hit another milestone yesterday when she rolled over from her belly to her back! Her facial expression was so cute! She looked at me like, "What just happened?!"

Ha!

I knew she was going to do it. She's been really close the last couple of days. Well, this time I was getting ready to push the video button on my phone to record her for her daddy and she rolled over right before I hit it! Oh well.

She is very sturdy when held. She has great head and chest control and has for a couple of weeks. She seems much more advanced than my boys did at this age. It's interesting. She reaches for food when I hold her at dinnertime. Yesterday she reached for my glass of cold water and when I let her "hold" it with her hand, she put it to her mouth, so I let her take a tiny sip. She seemed to really enjoy this and repeated it over an over, until I thought about backwash and couldn't continue.

**new moms, never drink after your toddler...trust me. You'll find food particles in there. Blech!**

If my daughter passes gas and I say "Ohhhh, I heard that!" She smiles or chuckles. It's so funny.

She likes to sit in her highchair and watch me work in the kitchen. She follows me all over the room with her eyes.

She watches the cats now, whereas before she didn't seem to even notice them. Izzy is much more comfortable around her. She even lies next to her on the floor. Yesterday Kathryn kicked her in the head and Izzy didn't even budge. It was cute.

She has a certain way she complains just as I'm getting myself situated to nurse her. She doesn't cry for food at all....she "complains." It's hard to explain. It's like the way a toddler asks for something when he/she doesn't know the words. She grunts lightly. It's cute.

She is sleeping so much better, giving me at least 5 hour stretches and this week I even got a few 7 hour stretches! Yay. She has been in her crib every night for over a week and she is down for the night by 11pm. It's nice, because it gives me at least an hour with K before turning in myself.

I love this kid. :)
Her eyes are so amazing!

In other news, I bought a new red lipstick (by Revlon) yesterday while at the grocery store. I've decided I'm going to wear it all the time. Even now, while I sit in my maternity yoga pants and a shirt with dried spit-up down the front.

I just don't care. I like it. Red is a color worn by those who have confidence and hey, even if I don't feel fully confident, I can fake it until I make it. :) I do feel really good lately though. Thankfully the dark cloud of self-doubt has lifted. It may return, but I'm not going to worry about it. I feel good. I'm doing good things for myself. I'm eating better the last few days and have upped my water intake.

It's easy to forget just how important water is...I find if I am lacking water, I get down and lethargic. It makes sense since dehydration is already occurring by the time one feels thirsty.

I'm still cloth diapering my baby girl and we have had little to no diaper rash. I bought the California Baby Diaper Rash cream and we hardly ever use it. I'm a serious cloth diapering advocate. It's excellent for baby AND the environment. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend you consider it. You can check out my other blog, One Mother's Adventure in Cloth Diapering. The link is in the frame at the right. I compiled many resources there for myself, as I was researching. Please feel free to check them out. If you have any questions, you can ask me here or there. I'll be more than happy to help you out. I think you'll discover that it is WAY easier than you might think!

Oh...and just for laughs:

Hmmm....anyone got a funny caption for this one? ;-)
