Poems

The chill air tickles my nose
As I stand, immobilized,
on the pavement
An arrow before me
Pointing the way
Yet I am lost
Strutting around inside
Pretending to know what it is
I need to show this world
Or myself.

The sun warms my back
And a slight smile graces my lips
As I realize it is not that I must
But that I want
I want, I need, I long to go on
But I need no directions
I need to fall, to bruise
To bend to the point of fracture
I need to show the world
And myself

I no longer wish for the embrace of Death
That love affair ran its course
And, to be quite frank
He wasn't the best lover
His kisses were shallow and thin
His embrace; smothering
I let him go
To sulk in his mourning robe
And swoon another.
