My Mutt Changed My Life

I ran with Ami this morning. If you've read this blog at all, you know that he's my dog. We adopted him last December. He's come so far from the fearful, cowering little guy he was. He now leaps around like a deer, and wags his tail so hard his entire body wiggles. He's an amazing guy and he's changed my life so much.

I used to run often, until I moved to Cincinnati and then got pregnant and had Ryn. It is hard to get out there...I need a jogging stroller terribly...it's especially hard in Winter. I hate cold weather and basically hibernate until Spring. Well, that is until Ami came along. Last year I truly believe that having to get outside and walk him helped keep my SADD at bay. It was an especially tough winter on everyone, with the terrible snows and frigid temperatures, but I made it through unscathed. I believe I owe it to my dog.

He's also helped me run more because I can go out early in the morning, even at this time of year when it is still dark. Without a jogging stroller, there is no way I'd be able to run later in the day.

So yay. I'm so incredibly happy we have this dog. I'm so happy we kept him, after having decided to give him back. He was so timid that we didn't trust him. He was the type that you didn't know if he would flee or snap. It was weird and with a toddler, especially precarious. I'm so glad he's here.

I just realized...this will be our first Christmas with him! How fantastic. I think I want to get stockings for the animals this year.

In other news, we are house hunting! We are so excited. The move won't happen until next year, but we are enjoying looking. We know the house we buy will be our forever home, so we are taking our time and being picky.

Below: refueling after my run with strawberry shakeo with strawberries, pineapple, and banana. Yum!!!
