Baby @ 5 Months & Vegan Mama Journey Continues

So, Katydid is sitting up! She's a bit wobbly and I can't leave her unattended, but she is sitting up very well and I have a feeling she will be good to go by week's end.

Craziness. I'm not pushing her. I do encourage her efforts though. It's crazy how fast she is doing things, despite my hopes for her to stay a baby a little longer. Oh well, she is her own little person. :-)

We are eating healthier. For me, it is as much for myself as Little Miss.

Yesterday K and I went to Jungle Jim's to grocery shop. I love that market. I despise grocery shopping, but that market makes it fun. I lobe the different country sections, the enormous local honey section, the awesome vegan "cheese" section, and holy cow, their produce section is amazing. I enjoyed our TWO HOUR shopping trip yesterday. Did I just say two hours?

Yes, I did. And I wasn't itching to run from there with my tail between my legs, like I do when we go to Kroger. The difference?

Not sure. Kroger is always crowded, like K said yesterday, the aisles are narrow, and well, the overall feeling is hectic. At JJ's, it doesn't feel crowded at all. The aisles are wide, the overall feeling is fun, laid-back and well, interesting. It makes me want to take the time to read labels, explore, and enjoy my experience.

So weird.

Katydid did soooo well! She was out with is for lunch downtown at Shanghai Mamas (Yum!) and also for the grocery trip. She didn't fuss once. I love taking her out now. She's so cute and fun...she seems so interested in everything around her and I love showing her the world.

So, our kitchen is much more prepared for vegetarian/vegan meals. We bought fake cheese and it was great! We had the pepperjack kind on out Boca burgers for dinner. Yum.
Yesterday I had a total vegan day.

1. At Shanghai Mamas, I had:
Seaweed salad
Veggie spring rolls
Eggplants and green beans over rice
Water

2. For dinner I had:
Steamed broccoli and carrots with garlic
Boca burger with vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato and mustard
Mango slices
Tortillas chips with spinach and artichoke hummus
Fake beer
Water

3. Snacks:
Oreos and vanilla almond milk
Apple butter on 12 grain toast
Water

I've continued with the not wearing makeup (fiundation, blush, powder) thing and my skin is quickly looking better and better. I still wear eye liner and masscara.

I have bumps on my torso though. Not sure why. I also still have banker sores. I have only one now. I've had them continuously since Katydid was 2 months old.

I swear, I think I have Behcet's Syndrome. The skin bumps even look like it. They don't itch really...but if I DO scratch them, they hurt a bit. I've stopped using my lotion and yesterday used olive oil instead. I have to admit they look less red now.

I don't know...I hope it subsides.

I hope this healthier eating thing helps.

I have so much to do today. I did nothing this weekend but enjoy my time with the kids and K. I have a lot of housework and laundry (notice the background of Katydid's pic!) to do.

Plus, I have a couple of new recipes to try for dinner!! :-)
