A bit off topic, but I had to.

So yesterday was interesting to say the least.

The A/C unit K replaced last year, at the condo (our rental property) went out on Monday, so K was on the phone wit the the guy who said he could be there on Saturday to look at it! Uh, that's not going to work. It's going to be 100 degrees for the next couple of days and our tenant cannot live in that condo without air conditioning! So anyway, after a bit of back and forth crap, the guy said he'd try to get there today & that he'd call by 10am today.

He did and he is going over there today. Yay.

After dealing with that all day yesterday, OUR A/C unit quit working last night! Ahhhh! So we made a late night trip to Lowe's to get a window unit to use for now. We knew our A/C unit was having issues, but we were hoping it would last through this year. Oh well. The unit we have in the window is great and it's a 12,000 btu, so it is cooling the entire first floor. We'll definitely be able to make it through the summer and be able to replace/have the unit repaired next year. Thank goodness. 100 degrees and a pregnant woman doesn't make the best cocktail.

I DO love hot weather. Seriously 80 - mid-nineties is my optimal weather...I think I draw the line at 100 though. That or pregnancy really does have an effect. I don't remember hating 100 degrees like I did yesterday. lol Even being at the pool didn't help. I was there from 1:30 - 5pm and by then I was worn out completely. The sun and heat drained me. For me, the lizard queen, that's saying a lot!

So, because it's hot again today, I've spent the day applying for jobs. I'm a teacher, so I'm hoping to get a position in a school in the area. Having relocated in the middle of the school year last year and now being pregnant makes finding a job a bit more of a challenge. It sucks. It's like a catch 22. I want a job, but I don't want to put the baby in daycare at such a young age. I just think 6 weeks old is way too young to turn a child over to others. Plus I want to breastfeed and 6 weeks isn't even long enough to establish a good routine.

It's so sad.

That said, if I don't apply now, all the positions will be taken and very few will be available later in the year. Of course there is always the big city school here...they are hiring throughout the year, but that means the conditions may not be the best. Apparently teachers quit halfway through the year on a regular basis there. It's an option though and I'm not scared of a challenge. All of my teaching experience to this day has included a lot of challenges. However, having a baby that's not sleeping through the night and starting a new job may be difficult...especially starting a new job in a difficult school in the middle of the year. Yikes. That would certainly be interesting.

We need insurance though...

Speaking of insurance. I'm so worried about Obamacare. I wish I had read MORE about it when I voted for President Obama. I think it's really bad for our country. I worry about small business, self-employeed, independent craftsmen/artists. How can people who can barely pay for gas to get to work going to afford to purchase health insurance? AND, if they don't purchase the insurance, how are they going to afford to pay the taxes/fines that result for not buying insurance? What about people who rarely, if ever go to a doctor? Why must they be mandated to buy insurance?

What about those who get free (to them) healthcare? Are they going to be mandated to work while they receive it so they are paying into the system as well? AND where are all these jobs going to come from when our economy is the cluster fuck that it is?

I'm worried. Americans are too comfortable...to happy to blindly enjoy convenience that they are allowing really bad things to happen under our noses. I don't blame the issues in this country on any particular president. I blame us. We have a RESPONSIBILITY to educate ourselves, to pay attention and to vote accordingly. Unfortunately this is not happening.

I voted for President Obama and I was proud to cast my vote. However, I'll NOT be voting for him in the upcoming election. I feel I was scammed. Our country needs a change and I think electing yet another Democrat or Republican is not the answer. There are other parties from which to choose...unfortunately they don't have the financial backing to pay to be included in the national debates, therefore they are not known to a public who doesn't actually care to research. That said, there is one republican I may vote for....Ron Paul. I'm not a Republican, I do not lean toward any group. I try to look at individuals.

He looks good...I just need to research more. A LOT MORE...and much more carefully than the last time.

This is off topic for a pregnancy blog....but in away it isn't. My baby's future is important to me and the government is a major part of that future.
