Easing Vaccination Upset

If your child is laid down and held down on the examination table for vaccinations, try having him/her sit in your lap instead.

This is how all vaccines were given to my sons and it resulted in minimal crying.

With Ryn, I followed the nurses' instruction and had her lying on the table while I held her arms and she looked up at me with fearful eyes. She screamed from before the first shot was given until she was dressed.

I hated it.

This time, I asked if I could hold her. Just like with my boys, she cried only a few seconds and it wasn't until the third shot that she even did that.

Moms, you are always a source of comfort.

Discuss this option with your doctor, if you find that vaccinations are upsetting to your child (and you).
