4/6/2012

My oldest child, C is 17 years old today! I can't believe it. And what a wonderful young man he's grown up to be. He is all the things I strive to be...and yet he already possesses those attributes. I wish I could be with him today, but he is having a party at his dad's house. I'll have him and T on Monday for the week of Spring Break. They asked about going to the zoo...maybe we can do that on Monday. The spring flowers are blooming, so it'll be gorgeous there for sure.

I've busied myself with quilting today. I'm working on the baby's quilt. It's turning out nicely! I love the colors. I plan to paint a tree mural on the wall, up onto the ceiling, and then I want to hang a bird mobile from the ceiling over the crib. First, we have to have the upstairs renovated. The drywall needs to be repaired and we need to paint as well.

Speaking of home renovations...we are also planning to have the gutters and soffets (sp?) fixed on the outside of the house. We are going to get the boys' bathroom downstairs in working order, and we are having the dining room redone...then we will paint the dining room and living room...oh, and the guest room as well.

Our plan is to get the house in order because, well, we want it in order, but also because we plan to sell in the next couple of years. We are waiting for the boys to graduate and get settled into a dorm or apartment of their own, then we are moving. Our plan is for either Las Vegas or Southern Florida (Miami Beach, probably). If we are moving to Miami Beach, I really need to get my body in shape after the baby is born!

Speaking of baby...my bump is getting bigger, even though no one seems to notice it at all. No one seems to think I'm pregnant except those who know I am. I guess I should be happy about that. I'll have a belly soon enough. I know I'm pregnant and Baby B moves around like an acrobat constantly! I love feeling her/him move in there.

April baby bump! :-)
Maybe there isn't much there, but I'm proud. I just don't get it though...when I look down, I see a much bigger belly, but it doesn't show up in pictures. Is my baby camera shy? ;-)

So I passed gas in front of K while we were sitting on the porch having coffee the other day. Thankfully he was on the phone and didn't seem to notice. I was embarrassed, so naturally (for me) I laughed. He laughed a little, but more with a face of "what are you laughing about?" He was on the phone with a friend and former employer in Miami. *thank god*

Speaking of that phone call. He might be doing a guest spot at the shop there, so we may be heading to Miami Beach in May! Yay! I really hope we can go. I'd love to hit the beach before the baby comes and even just going to dinner becomes nearly impossible.

I cleaned house yesterday, except for vacuuming the upstairs and cleaning the boys' room downstairs. Today I finally got around to vacuuming the upstairs. It's weird how one day I'm fine to do a lot, then the next day the bare minimum makes my belly tighten up. Well, today was a bare minimum day. After vacuuming, my belly was tight as can be, so I've been sitting on the couch watching Practical Magic for the last hour or so. I guess I'll get to the downstairs tomorrow. Oh well. Not what I planned, but it'll work. It's better to be safe than sorry.

My most recent check up went really well. The doctor said the ultrasound looked great, the baby's heartbeat was fast (155 bpm) and strong, and I've gained 3 pounds. So things are moving in the right direction!

On April 25th, we have the anatomy scan and genetic counseling. I hate being AMA with this pregnancy...I mean, I'm in great shape! I take care of myself. I think it's silly to group all women over 35 into the same lump. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry though...I'll deal with it. I rejected the offers of genetic screening, especially after finding out that they are only about 5% accurate and they give false positives 95% of the time. There was no way in hell I'd do that to myself! I'd worry like crazy and probably for nothing.

So at the appt, K also asked the doctor about riding the motorcycle. She said there were no risks other than the obvious risk of possibly wrecking. So, we went for a ride. It was great to feel the wind in my hair again! I don't feel comfortable riding far though, with the standard wide glide passenger seat. It's great for short rides! :)
