Well, I survived the 3-Day Refresh without cheating! I'm so proud.
Seriously, there were times when I was tempted to cheat....like when I cooked chicken fajitas for my family and I ate seasoned broth and veggies. Haha!
I have to say, after reading another woman's blog about it, I was kind of afraid to do it. Here's a link to her blog post:
I Hated Day Refresh
She had crazy bloating and felt hungry, whereas I had no bloating at all and felt only slightly hungry. The last evening was the hardest for me because all of my kids were home (Even my adult sons! I was so happy) & we watched movies. Now, for me...movies = wine and popcorn, but not last night. So I felt "hungry," when all tally it was probably a habitual hunger, if that makes sense.
Anyway, I actually enjoyed the food. I love fruits and veggies and eat lots of them on a daily basis, so this wasn't a big shocker for my system.
I drank TONs of water. Probably a gallon a day.
I had Shakeology 1 time each day.
I personally love Shakeology, but this included vegan chocolate, which is my least favorite flavor, but I drank it with fruit and it was good.
I had the Fiber Sweep 21st time per day and I have to admit, this was my least favorite thing and I actually almost gagged on the third day. It's not the taste that got me, but the texture. Like most fiber drinks, it's like a super runny oatmeal. Gah! Ugh. I'd do it again (and will and some point), but yea...it was tough. It's only 8 ounces though, so I put on my big girl pants and chugged it.
I had the Vanilla Fresh 2 times a day. Vanilla is my favorite Shakeology flavor, so this tasted pretty much like that and I enjoyed it.
I lost 2 pounds and 1" off my waist.
Now...I didn't do this for weight loss. I don't need to lose weight, but it's great for getting a jump start on that, if that's your personal goal.
Here are my cautions for you, if you are re using it as a jumpstart:
1. Get your kit about 1 week BEFORE you plan to use it.
2. DO prepare your body as the guide suggests by adding a big salad a day to your diet. With this program you consume a LOT of fiber, which is GREAT, unless your body isn't used to it...then you're in hell with gas, bloating and discomfort.
3. Start drinking more water during the week prior to starting.
Another thing I suggest is this...don't just think about the physical.
As I progressed through it, I thought about refocusing. I read a book and started a new one. When I went to eat a fruit or veggie, I thought about how that food got to my hand...from seed to beautiful edible food that fueled my body.
A cleanse is about so much more than the physical. For the 3 days, truly dig in and refocus. Then, you really will come out refreshed and revitalized.
