2014: Started with a Bang!

So, we have a dog now. He's a Pointer mix and we got him from Dream House Rescue. He's awesome and so gentle. We've named him Amadeus, or Ami for short. I like Ami, because it is French for "friend" and I get to cay "C'mon Ami." lol

In other news, Kathryn has taken to eating dog food...or at least chewing on it until I tell her to spit it out into my hand.

She has also taken to throwing her food...sometimes ON me, which she finds delightful...me, not so much.

I am exercising daily now since we have Ami and I enjoy it immensely.

I'm sending out my first "drawing" as a gift to my niece. It's not much, but it's a start. Kathryn helped.

I'm trying to occupy our time with activities. Yesterday we made a pillow by painting Kathryn's handprints onto fabric. I also painted fabric for use in a future quilt for her.

K and I have been antiquing most weekends and have found several super cool things. We want to fill our house with awesome things we can eventually hand down to the kids. So, we are slowly purchasing really nice furniture. Our first major purchase was Kathryn's new twin bed. It's a 1930s Romweber bed. I LOVE IT!!! She has been sleeping in it too...at least part of the night, then I bring her to our bed.

Another favorite purchase is the drunken Charlie Chaplin lamp we found. He now has a home in our library.

So, things are going well. I'm happy and enjoying the opportunity to be creative. I have a quilt in the works (and have managed to eek out time to work on it each day) and two others planned. One for Kathryn and another to sell in my Etsy store once I'm ready to open it.

I'm also going to be making natural beauty products again. I'm super excited about this, because they did so well the last time I made them. I even sold internationally! Unfortunately I had to quit because of my insane teacher workload. Now though, I can devote much more time to it and I'm stoked about that!

I'll be making the tried and loved lip balm as well as other popular products and I'm also going to try a couple of new things. As always, nothing will be sold without trying them myself. If it's not good enough for my uber sensitive skin, I'm not offering it to anyone else.

Oh...and to top this post off, K and I have a date tomorrow! I finally get to wear my beautiful Christian Dior heels!

So, here's to an amazing start to 2014.
No complants here.
